In 1971 Yashica introduced their final twin lens reflex, the Yashica Mat 124G. The 124G was Yashica's top of the line model, featuring a built in CDS light meter, crank film advance, and could use either 120 or 220 size film. Today the camera has become somewhat of a cult classic due to the cameras high quality and full feature set.
My three Yashica TLR's, the Yashica 44, Yashica 124G, and Yashica D. Personally, I actually prefer the Yashica D even though it was a low price alternative to the124G and lacks the crank advance, as I find the chrome more aesthetically pleasing. The fact that my Yashica D is the somewhat uncommon version featuring the same viewing and taking lens as the 124G means there is no difference in image quality despite it's lower price.
Winter finally managed to produce the first real snowfall here in the Miami Valley, so I took my new TLR to Cox Arboretum.

I think winter is my favorite season for photography. Most parks are practically empty, and are always very peaceful in comparison to the busy summer days. I think I have a decently high tolerance for cold weather compared to other people I know.

It was a a little colder out than I realized, and I was a little underdressed, but I was determined to shoot a roll of film to start of the new year, and who knows whether or not we'll end up much more snow during the rest of the season.

The only people out at the arboretum were a few employees driving around in golf carts. I talked to a few of them who stopped when they saw me fiddling with the old camera set up on my tripod, none of them had seen a TLR before except in books or old movies, and were shocked that they could still be used in this day and age.
